On a clear day of flying, passengers are treated to a ‘one of a kind’ experience – a sky dance of the Himalaya, Karakoram and Hindu Kush ranges which include some of the highest peaks in the world. You can see, Nanga Parbat (8,125m), Rakaposhi (7,788m), Diran Peak, Spantik, Haramosh Peak, and above all, the spectacular K-2 (the second highest peak in the world) towering above all others at 8,611 meters.
Type of Flights to Skardu Airport:
PIA is the only airline that flies to Skardu and Gilgit Airports of Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan with only ATR-42 service to Gilgit Airport and both ATR-42 and A320 to Skardu Airport.
Both flights offer spectacular scenery. The ATR-42 flight cruise at 19,500 feet which is just barely above the mountain peaks, one is much closer to the mountains. Flight time on the ATR is slightly longer.
The A320 flight usually cruise at around 28,500 feet provides a wider perspective to look at all the mountains and surroundings.
