Gateway to K2 — fort, orchards and the Baltoro route
Shigar Valley is the green gateway to the Baltoro Glacier and K2. Its centerpiece is the 400-year-old Shigar Fort (Fong Khar), a beautifully restored palace-resort of the Raja of Shigar. The valley floor is a patchwork of apricot and cherry orchards watered by the Shigar River, ringed by the immense arid mountains of the Karakoram.
